RMIT University is an Australian university based in Melbourne, Victoria. RMIT was founded in 1887, as Melbourne’s Working Men’s College, by the public benefactor The Hon. Francis Ormond. It is the third oldest tertiary education provider in Victoria, and the eighth oldest in Australia. It is ranked in the top 10 universities in Australia (top 3 in Victoria) - according to its research output, and in the top 100 universities in the World in the areas of communication and media studies according to the QS World University Rankings.
