Opening Ceremony of Academic Year 2013-2014
On 9th September, IFC teachers and office staff, 75 newly enrolled students as well as their parents, President of the Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA), Grafton Nunes, and Director of Admissions Office, Robert Borden, took part in the opening ceremony of IFC’s 2013-2014 academic year. The ceremony was held in the lobby on the first floor of No. 7 CAFA Building.
As hostess for the ceremony, IFC Director Ms. Huang Li, began by expressing her sincere welcome to all the distinguished guests including the students and parents. She followed this by congratulating the 75 new students on their successful entrance to IFC, having competed against more than 500 students who applied for IFC. After Ms. Huang, President Nunes from CIA gave a speech, in which he praised IFC for having created such great opportunities for the students to gain access to art at international levels. She also encouraged the students to acquire the skills and improve their ability to communicate and express themselves through artistic languages.
IFC International Academic Director Tony Brown also took the opportunity to extend his best wishes to the new IFC students, and he wished the students a productive year at IFC.
Wang Lihe, the new student representative, said that she really looked forward to her new life at IFC and believed that her dream would come true as long as she worked hard this year.
At the end, Director Tony Brown and President Grafton Nunes opened the celebrated champagne for the ceremony. In the afternoon, there was an orientation for the new students and their parents, in which all the IFC departments introduced their annual teaching plans, curricula and the function of administration offices. Director Huang Li also illustrated IFC’s history and achievements and explained IFC’s teaching ideology to the students and parents. She concluded by answering student enquiries about curricula and evaluation.
