“What If He’s Still There?” is a story from my childhood experience with my grandfather when I was young. This children's picture book emphasizes that death is not the end of life. It aims to help children understand that people who passed away are still with them every day protecting and loving them secretly in a different way. This book is made digitally and embellished with color pencils after it was printed. There is a thin layer of plastics film on each page, painted with “Grandpa” accompanying the little girl. At first glance, it seems that both of them are in the same space,while in fact, the little girl is alone after the plastic film is lifted but mentally her grandpa is with her helping her to thrive in the world.
