WHAT IF THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN ARCHITECTURE AND NATURE BECOMES BLURRED?
In recent years, the term "future city" has become more and more popular. In my opinion, one of the characteristics of future city is to blur the boundary between architecture and nature. Primitive human beings completely depended on nature to survive. When we think of nature, we may think of forests, plants and mountains. The main idea of my project is to integrate buildings and plants together, taking square space as a unit to maximize the use of space. On the basis of this idea, I looked to some references, such as Milan's project Mobility and Logistic Hub, which looks like wearing a dress made of "green plants" on the building and roads. Through these references, I designed a building called "Alpine Tower”. Located at the junction of city and nature, the project consists of a tall tower and a group of houses, which form a transition from city to nature through the change of building units density. First of all, I determined the minimum unit, the space formed by this unit can be used for people to live in, and another larger unit can be used as an office area, people can go to work without transportation, reducing carbon emissions. In the combination of blocks, I referred to Tetris video game modules, and the gaps between the minimum units were filled with green plants to create a vertical green space. In the office area, I designed a nested relationship and added a glass area outside the office area to form a structure similar to "greenhouse", in which green plants can grow. Since this area is made of glass, people can look at the distant scenery in this area.
