Within this project I explored the concept of given theme“Reunited”through the nature of humans being and recent experience of Covid-19 where we all became so much digital addicted and face the biggest shift and challenge of our lives. In this post pandemic time I am re-considering the importance for us as human being be socially and physically reunited and use these two different reality as a starting point. I started my research from the questioning the physical distance between people and found that hugging peoples have shown in a best way the idea of Unity. I found in this action a very strong visual effect that has a similarity with fabric structure such as interweaving. The art works of Louise Bourgeois inspired me a lot and lead my process development to a more sculptural look. I integrated the plaster band and followed the shape of dress form create combination of soft and hard material. So I found my fabric “cheese fabric”. This project made me understand that costume design is not necessarily clothes, it can also be a kind of art. I combined costume with sculpture, which gave me a different idea of costume design. My final work shows the importance of being physically together and has an opportunity to hug each other to show love, courage or support.
