我的项目主题是重启我们对跨性别者的看法，希望通过作品能够使公众接受和去关心跨性别者。这个作品源于电影《丹麦女孩》对我的影响，它使我开始了解这个在历史长河中被忽视和误解的群体。

据我调查，在中国，对跨性别者的误解仍然很严重。我四分之一的朋友说他们可能会混淆跨性别者的概念（与同性恋、女装男装嗜好混淆）；同龄人身边的大多数中年人和老年人认为跨性别者是不正常的。

但事实上，他们只是生来就被分到了错误的身体中，他们被迫生活在自己不喜欢的皮囊下。起初，我尝试去做了一个视觉合集。在这一系列的照片中，我将在女性的半边脸上化上男性化的妆、用破纸遮住一半的脸，这样观众就可以直观地看到对比，并试图去辨别照片中那个人真正的内在性别。

随着实验的深入，我开始意识到解决误解的关键在于立场的互换。作品应该带着观众站在跨性别者们的位置上去思考，而非简单地展示跨性别者的生活面，所以我尝试了视频。在视频中，我把自己紧紧地困在塑料薄膜里，那塑料薄膜代表了跨性别者生来的错误外壳。我还把女性标签贴在男性脸上，然后试图把它撕掉。透过屏幕，这些视频可以给观看者带来更强烈的、在挣扎下生活的跨性别者们的感觉。

The main topic of my project is to restart our views towards transgenders. I noticed this topic because of the film named The Danish Girl. After watching this movie, I started to know and understand this group, which have been ignored and misunderstood throughout our long history.

My research suggests that, in China, the misunderstanding remains serious. Around a quarter of my friends said that they may be confused by transgender concepts. Most of the middle-aged people around me and my friends thought this was abnormal. What’s more, almost all of the elder generation said that they would never accept trans people.

But in fact, transgenders are just born with wrong physical genders. They are forced to live in skins that they don’t like. I think it is time for the Chinese public to understand them. So I made a collection of visual recordings and photographs. In the photographs, I wore male makeup on half of my(female)face or covered my face half with ruined paper, so that viewers could see the contrast and try to identify the real inner gender of the person.

However, as experiments went deeper, I started to realize that the key point of solving this problem was to swap positions. Viewers need to ‘stand in the shoes’ of transgenders. So, I changed my format to videos. I trapped myself tightly in plastic warp, which represented the ill-suited skins of transgender. I put female labels on a male faces and then tried to tear it off. Through the screen, the videos conveyed a strong feeling about the struggles that transgenders face in life.

I sincerely hope that my work could help the public to try to accept and to care about transgenders.
