“重启”这个主题让我想到了重拾传统。

大数据时代之下，智能技术迭代，电子产品已经成为我们生活中不可或缺的一部分，手机等电子产品方便了我们生活的同时，也令我们将数千年来最为传统的物品抛之脑后。所谓“字如其人”，正是强调了写一手好字的重要性。但如今错别字、提笔忘字已到了司空见惯的地步，写得一手好字的人更是寥寥无几。

数千年来，毛笔为中华民族留下了无数珍品。我的作品是将毛笔中置入电子触控技术，保留毛笔笔头的质感，在手机上模仿笔在纸上书写的感觉，使书法灵活化，从而使人们可以更加便捷地练习书法，提高练习频率与效率，在享受高科技的同时保留住传统文化。

As we all know, mobile phones have become an inseparable part of our lives. They are becoming more and more functional, including taking notes, taking pictures, sending messages, and playing games. As we become more and more dependent on mobile phones, writing with pen and paper has become unpopular. It is really convenient to record on the phone, but that doesn’t mean we should give up traditional ways of writing. In China, there is an old saying:”Handwriting can present a man and his personality”. But nowadays people often make mistakes when they write. So, we should go back to the days when there were no cellphones. In the most traditional way- restart. That’s the reason in my project I wanted to go back to a more traditional approach of writing, this is a way to restart how we think about traditions and modernity.

From my perspective, however, we should also take advantage of the convenience of high technology. So, my work is a brush with which you can practice calligraphy on smartphones. While experimenting, I tried many different textures of brush head. Finally, I found and kept one brush tip, because it has the softest texture which can make people feel most comfortable. But it is different from the traditional brush in that the electronic touch stylus is loaded into the brush. This will make it easier for people to practice calligraphy. In the past, people needed many tools in order to practice calligraphy. Using for example, ink and paper ink-stone. But now, people can practice calligraphy without these tools. They just need to download a calligraphy picture on their phone and then, they can paint over it.

In the details of my work, I designed undulating shapes on the pen to help people hold the brush in the right position. At the end of the brush there is a lid that can be opened and in which the brush head is stored. When people leave their brush in a random place, they are likely to damage the tips. With this storage for the brush head, damage can be avoided.

This design is trying to hold together the advantages of technology with the qualities of tradition. My will is to get people to dig into the millennial knowledge of Chinese calligraphy.
